The City of New Orleans
As part of responding to a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request, City staff realizes that thousands of emails by sitting Mayor Nagin are missing. Official correspondences by the Mayor are considered to be public records and their destruction is illegal. The city initially hired a local forensics company but their results were considered politically motivated.
Amidst a tense political atmosphere and dogged news coverage, SunBlock was retained by the City to take over the investigation and locate any missing emails. SunBlock experts immediately identified numerous sources of email that were previously omitted. After collecting all the emails and performing forensic analysis, thousands of missing emails were recovered. These emails were subsequently released to the public. Various flaws in the local forensics company were found and clarified.
With SunBlock’s forensic expertise, thousands of previously unidentified emails were found. This allowed the citizens of New Orleans to gain greater insight into the activities of their Mayor.
